Atlantis Crew
Suppose your yacht is about to start a cruise
and a key member of crew falls sick, immediately you
and your guest’s enjoyment of the cruise is in jeopardy.
At Atlantis Yachts we maintain consistent contact
with selective crew with the relevant credentials
& refferences should a replacement be needed at short
notice.
The aim will always be to maintain continuity of
crew, as crew changes are both disruptive and expensive

Captains
Selection of a suitable Captain is one of the most
difficult tasks of yacht management. In addition to
ship handling and navigation skills, a yacht captain
needs social and management skills to ensure that
owners and other crew members enjoy life onboard to
the maximum.
Other Crew
Whilst the Captain must be involved in final crew
selection, all crew should be interviewed and assessed
by the managers who understand the owners requirements
and the intricacies of the yachts future demands.
For certain members of the crew, e.g. chef and chief
steward, the owner may also wish to be involved. With
increasingly tighter regulation in many of the worlds
best cruising destinations, both by maritime authorities
and insurance companies, crew are increasingly required
to have not only internationally recognised certificates
of competency but a high level of local knowledge
(both of the marine environment and of local social
and political sensitivities), making crew selection
more difficult and time consuming.

References
References are always taken up on every crewmember,
thus ensuring correct placement. This knowledge
is essential in an employment area where crews are
often transient.
Employment Contracts
All crew must have written employment contracts
specifying terms, duration, notice periods, holidays,
etc. The managers provide a crew standing order
document, which specifies terms of employment, and
the general manner in which the yacht is to be run.
This must be signed by each crewmember.
